The excluder is used to close the dam in a separate part of the hive, or to separate the second storey from the development nest, or the nest from the extension.
The excluders depending on the type of hive are used in the system:

horizontal
The separation of the nest from the honey is to prevent the mother from red in the honeycombs.
The currently used types of baffle gratings:

Workers pass through the gaps in the barrier grate, but drones or medium-sized queens cannot squeeze through.
In the same way, segments of wire are made, connected by spacers with holes, which provide the appropriate width of the slots.
