Refractometer calibration oil - 10ml
Honey solution - Brix
Description:
Calibration oil is a very important element when buying a honey refractometer, because it allows you to precisely calibrate the device before use. Honey refractometers are usually calibrated using a sugar solution, but this is a complicated process that requires time and experience.
Calibration oil is an easier and more precise way to calibrate the refractometer, because it allows you to obtain a stable reference point that can be used in future measurements. In addition, the oil is easier to use and allows for faster and more accurate results.
The capacity of 10 ml of oil should be enough for a very long time, because only a small amount of oil is needed to calibrate the refractometer. With just a few drops of calibration oil, you can get accurate measurement results and ensure your refractometer is working properly.
It is worth remembering that regular refractometer calibration is crucial for obtaining accurate results of measuring the water content in honey. Therefore, having a calibration oil is very important for beekeepers who want to be sure that their refractometer works properly and provides accurate measurement results.
Refractometer calibration:
Prior to first use, the refractometer must be calibrated (ambient temperature indicated at 20°C calibration, also ensure that the instrument has reached ambient temperature):
- open the prism cover,
- put 2-3 drops of calibration oil on the surface of the prism,
- close the cover and press it slightly until the liquid has filled the entire surface of the prism, without air bubbles,
- wait about 30 seconds to equilibrate the temperature of the sample to the temperature of the instrument,
- point the refractometer towards the light source and look through the viewfinder,
- using a screwdriver, turn the calibration screw until the boundary line between the white and blue fields (light/shadow line) is set to 72.5% Brix.
